Tai Chi Ch'uan is an ancient Chinese exercise. Developed by monks, it is practiced with slow and gentle movements. Millions of Chinese citizens do tai chi every day to maintain their health and strengthen their bodies. This class will cover the first third of the Yang family short form and will meet once a week for 12 weeks.

Continuing Tai Chi classes in Greeley are a continuation of the Beginning Tai Chi class. To attend you must have studied the first third of the Yang family short form taught in the Beginning Tai Chi class, or receive permission from the instructor.

Advanced Tai Chi Ch'uan in Greeley is a continuation of the Beginning and Continuing Tai Chi courses. To attend you must have completed your study of the 64-posture Yang family short form as taught in the two previous courses, or receive permission from the instructor.
In the Advanced Tai Chi class, you’ll complete your study of the solo tai chi form, you will receive instruction in advanced tai chi methods and practices, including qigong, the tai chi ruler, and tai chi sword forms.
This is a 16-week course that meets once a week. Classes are offered through the Greeley Parks and Recreation Department and take place at the Active Adult Center and the FunPlex Recreation Center. The T'ai Chi Ruler is a unique exercise form that traces its origins back to ancient China. Its movements incorporate the slowness and grace of tai chi chuan, but is performed by waving a ruler (a short wooden dowel) through the air.
In this brief course you will begin by learning the six basic movements of Ruler Tai Chi, called “Ruler Qigong.” Then you will learn the first segment of the single-ruler extended exercise form, “Ruler Boxing. “
To attend this class, you must purchase a tai chi ruler (available from the instructor here or from Internet vendors). This is a 4-week course that meets once a week. All students are welcome—no prior study of tai chi chuan is necessary. The Advanced Tai Chi Ruler class in Greeley is a continuation of the T'ai Chi Ruler course. The course begins with a review of the material covered in the prior course, then you’ll be introduced to the 2-Ruler form.

Qigong (pronounced “chee-gung") is a set of breathing and stretching exercises based on traditional Chinese techniques. These exercises are designed to build health, flexibility, balance, and strength. While these exercises can be performed by anyone, they are ideal for students who are older, in poor health, or have limited mobility. To get the most out of these exercises, you must be able to stand unassisted for 20 minutes.
The Traditional Chinese Qigong class in Greeley is divided into 2 parts. Each part teaches four different qigong forms. Each part meets once a week for 4 weeks. Because each part teaches different qigong forms, students may take either or both parts. Classes are offered through the Greeley Parks and Recreation Department and take place at the Active Adult Center and the FunPlex Recreation Center. The Tai Chi Sword is an exercise set developed from the traditional Yang family tai chi form. Performed slowly and gracefully, the Tai Chi Sword builds strength, flexibility, and balance, and promotes calm and focus in its practitioner. This exercise form is learned and practiced with a wooden tai chi practice sword—no fencing is taught in this course. Students may borrow a sword to participate in the first class, but will be required to purchase their own swords ($20-30) from either the instructor or the internet vendor of their choice.

This is a 2-day workshop offered in Greeley, Colorado at the Active Adult Center, 1010 6th Street. On the first day you will be introduced to the six basic movements of Ruler Tai Chi, called “Ruler Qigong.” On the second day you will learn more about the origins and history of the t’ai chi ruler, and then you will learn an extended single-ruler exercise form, “Ruler Boxing.”
Anyone can attend this workshop- no prior study of t’ai chi ch’uan or other martial arts experience is necessary. To attend this class you must purchase a t’ai chi ruler, which will available for sale at the workshop.
